Sejlgård is a manor located on the outskirts of the city of Silkeborg. In 1598 it was a peasant farm under Silkeborg Castle, but in 1724 king Frederik 4. (1699-1730) sold Sejlgård to Jens Jørgensen Seerup. He established Sjelgård as an estate and erected the main building with two side wings, which were demolished in 1920. In 1845 the manor was bought by the company Johs. Ivar Bruun in order to build a textile factory. An attempt to dam up the nearby stream failed and the plan was cancelled.
