In the western part of Jutland we find the manor Bækmark whose land is surrounded by an old stone wall. The farm is located on a small mound since it previously had a strategic and important position in relation to the north-south road in Western Jutland. Through the ages Bækmark has belonged to the bishop of Ribe, the crown, and a number of nobles and non-nobles. The estate was parceled out in 1940 by the National Land Board.
