In the northern part of Salling one finds the manor Hegnet with a history stretching back through centuries. From the 15th through to the latter 17th century the manor was owned by the noble family Skeel, who rose to become one of the most influential families in Denmark. A new main building was erected in the 19th century, when rearing of oxen (and later dairy production) was the main source of income. Today Hegnet is driven by Christen Pedersen with a focus on agriculture.
