Tanderup is an old manor dating back to the 15th century. In 1648 it was for a brief period partly owned by a tenant farmer, who held a share in the manor. However, since only nobles were allowed to own land he had to sell his share. Between 1720 and 1749 Tanderup was owned by the wealthy family Linde who owned several manors in central and western Jutland. Around 1800 the estate was parceled out and a new and modest main building was erected. In 1822 however Tanderup was sold at an auction, probably because of the economic crisis in Denmark at the time. In 1922 land was once again parceled out and 12 new small farms for crofters were built.
